What is blood pressure?

The blood circulating in the body through arteries deliver nutrients and oxygen to every cell. A pressure is built in the arteries when heart push out the blood called blood pressure 

What is hypertension?

Blood must have a certain level of pressure to circulate in the veins, but when this pressure increases beyond limit it is called high blood pressure or hypertension. 

High Blood Pressure or Hypertension is also known as the silent killer. It increases the risk of heart disease or stroke to a serious extent. It can also lead to death of a person by gradually suffering from various diseases by making cerebral artery rupture. 



Normal blood pressure 

80 - 120 mm/Hg is considered as normal blood pressure.

Cause of Hypertension 

The main cause of high blood pressure is eating high salt foods and inadequate physical activity. It is also caused by mental and emotional stress and wrong lifestyle. People suffering from mental tension usually have blood pressure disorder. If this tension lasts for long time, the pressure increases permanently. Even, if the tension is reduced or eliminated after that, the blood pressure does not decrease. Irregular lifestyle, smoking, excessive consumption of drugs, tea, coffee, soft drinks and starchy products imbalance the functions of body and lead to hypertension. 

Symptoms of hypertension 

The symptoms of mild and moderate hypertension do not appear for years.  

Its first symptom is expressed in the form of pain in the back of the head and neck on waking up in the morning. 

Other symptoms include:

1. Dizziness

2. Body pain

3. Rapid heart rate

4. Fatigue

5. Insomnia 

Natural remedies 

Here are some useful natural ingredients that helps to control high blood pressure:

Garlic 

Eating raw garlic after meal is beneficial in high blood pressure. 

Gourd 

Taking a half cup of gourd and mix it with a little water and drink it three times a day.

Lemon juice  

It is beneficial to squeeze lemon juice in water and drink it several times a day. It is also useful to drink lemon juice mixed with warm water in the morning. 

Apple 

Eating apples is beneficial for high blood pressure 

Physical activity for hypertension 

Exercise is said to be useful in high blood pressure. Walking is a good form of exercise. It relieves tension. It strengthens muscles and improve blood circulation. When walking feels exhausting start cycling, swimming and jogging as well. 

Yoga asanas, Surya Namaskar, Makar Asana, Vajra Asana are said to be beneficial for blood pressure. 

Hypertension patients should get regular treatment from a qualified doctor. They should also ensure that they get at least 8 hours of sleep. Try to avoid stress, worry, anger and stay happy.
